[Important] About the termination of the development of Kinza

This is the Kinza development team. Ever since its release, we have been working on the development and application of Kinza as a Chromium-derived browser, but based on Kinza’s terms of use, today, July 9th (Fri), 2021, we hereby announce the termination of the development of this software. We apologize to all users for this sudden announcement. Along with its termination, we deeply apologize for the major inconvenience caused to all users.

Recently, there was a report that access to the Google API used by Chromium-derived browsers including Kinza was scheduled to be cut off on March 15th, 2021, and in April this year, the cutoff was implemented.

The Google API provides a function to tie and sync Google accounts and browsers. From the time of the release, the ability to use a function that synchronizes with Google accounts was deemed a charm of Kinza, but due to the synchronization function no longer being able to be used, Kinza’s usability has significantly decreased and we have judged that it can no longer function as a browser for daily use.

We have received requests regarding this matter from multiple users on our forum, but unfortunately, at this point in tiome, we do not have the means to solve the problem of the synchronization feature and we foresee the possibility of the restrictions on the use of the API, including features other than the synchronization function, becoming even stricter in the future.

Also, alongside the problem of the synchronization function, there is the problem of the costs incurred in terms of revenue and the continuation of development to provide Kinza as a free software, and to continue with it from the perspective of profitability when considering the business side of things as well, we judged that it would be appropriate to terminate it at this timing.

Furthermore, the patch file for Kinza’s unique functions (sidebar, etc.) implemented in the version that is currently available to the public (Ver6.9.0, Chromium Ver89.0.4389.128) is scheduled to be made available for the public to download for free at a later date. In th efuture, if there is anyone who wants to develop a Chromium-derived browser, we hope that you will be able to make use of this patch file.

Starting today, we plan to terminate the provision of Kinza according to the following schedule.

  • July 9th (Fri), 2021                Announcement of termination of development
  • July 16th (Fri), 2021              Termination of new posts on the forum
  • August 31st (Tue), 2021        Patch file used in Kinza to be made available to the public
  • December 31st (Fri), 2021    New downloads terminated and site closure

*Kinza will continue to be usable after today, but from the perspective of security, we do not recommend continuing to use it while it is not updated. We recommend switching to another browser such as Google Chrome.

There is not much time left until the termination of service on December 31st, but it would make us happy if you would continue to use Kinza.

Thank you for using our service for all this time.
